EGM TOMORROW at 5pm in A25!!!

Students' Union blog

Tomorrow is the Extraordinary General Meeting of Newport Students' Union. It will be held in A25 at 5pm.

WHY IS THIS RELEVANT TO YOU?

The main issue under discussion is the SU's constitution. We need students to vote on the newly proposed constitution, and this document will dictate how the SU is governed, and how decisions on your behalf are made. For this reason it is so important that you attend, and have your say on your union.

CAN ANYONE ATTEND?

All students are welcome to attend, but will need to present their student ID to receive a voting card. If you haven't read the newly proposed constitution, it is available at newportunion.com/yourunion/constitution

IS IT WORTH BOTHERING?

Yes: If you attend events at the SU, or use the bar or shop, if you are in a sports team, or a society. If you're a course rep, or have complained to a course rep previously. If you work in the bar, or help out with the student media.

Basically if you are involved with the SU, or benefit from using any of it's services, then it is possibly the one meeting that is definitely worth bothering with!

We hope to see you all there.

Love,

Jennifer Moran
Communications Officer

Chinese New Year

International blog

While most of us have already settled into the New Year with January coming to a close, it's very easy for us to forget that for some, the Chinese New Year has yet to come.

Cue a notice on the mLE, which says that there are Chinese New Year Celebrations in Cardiff on February 14th. While this notice is already on the mLE it is definitely worth the extra mention, as there are stage performances, folk art workshops, kite exhibitions, lion dancing and, excitingly enough, more stuff scheduled. From 10 til 4 this is a good idea for anyone interested in ringing in the Chinese New Year in style.

Ah, but the most important part: it's a free event, and is being held in the Wales Millennium Centre. Fancy that.
